Earth Day 2018 - Charitable Organizations

1.    Alameda County Community Food Bank – Alameda County Community Food Bank is a leader in hunger relief efforts in the Bay Area. We serve 1 in 5 county residents by distributing food through a network of 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations, as well as direct distribution partnerships with schools, colleges, and hospitals. We can provide $7 worth of food for every $1 donated, and are among Charity Navigator’s top 1 percent of nonprofits nationwide.

2.    Kiwanis Club – Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, and the Hayward-Castro Valley Club embodies that. Through our work and donations, we support over 15 local charitable causes and 7 community events like the Grandparents Day breakfast. We also develop leaders among our young people with: The Key Club at Castro Valley High School and the Circle K Clubs at Chabot College and Cal State East Bay number well over 300 young people who donate their time and efforts to support the community.

3.     The Rotary Club of Castro Valley – is a volunteer service organization that has been serving Castro Valley since 1953.  Avenues of Service including: hosting the H.A.R.D. Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors, providing backpacks with school supplies for needy students, holding a Christmas party for children living in shelters, participating in the Adopt-a-Family Christmas program and financing an oxygen generator for Nejo Hospital in Ethiopia.  The Rotary Club of Castro Valley sponsors students to attend Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), and offer grants and scholarships to youth organizations and students.  More information is available on the Rotary website,
