1. Mail in your registration form! Click here to view a printable form. If your group has a new or different site in mind, contact naomi@cvsan.org. All volunteers are welcome!

2. Carpool (or walk) to one of the above sites at 9:00 am. A Project EARTH helper will be there to give you materials for your project, along with your volunteer i.d. sticker!

3. From 9:00 am - 12 noon, pick-up litter, weed & mulch trees, and beautify creeks and parks. Leave bags at the site.

4. Your free lunch will be served from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm at the Festival.

Trash bags, latex gloves, mulch, soil, and seeds will be provided by Castro Valley Sanitary District, Clyde Robin Seed Co., and Keep California Beautiful.

Guidelines:
All volunteers will be presented these safety guidelines along with site-specific instructions.

  • Wear long pants and substantial shoes or boots.

  • Wear light-colored clothing and use sunscreen. Some safety vests available.

  • Do not touch or attempt to remove materials which you suspect may be toxic or hazardous. Items to avoid include: powder chemicals, odorous substances, suspicious packages, chemical drugs, weapons, syringes, or dead animals.

  • Be careful when picking up broken glass.

  • Do not run, throw objects, or engage in horseplay.

  • Be alert for poisonous plants, stinging insects, and snakes.

  • Do not enter tunnels or drainage facilities.

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages or drugs before coming to work site or while at site.

  • Do not compact trash bags, sharp items may cause injuries.

  • Walk and work facing traffic whenever possible.

  • Wear your safety vests when working in areas near traffic.

  • Use crosswalks and signals when available and exercise caution when crossing without a crosswalk or signal.

  • Watch your footing on steep slopes and other places where you might slip and fall.

Public and private schools in Castro Valley will participate in beautifying their campuses through various projects. More details to be posted.

1. Proctor Elementary School -
Proctor Campus Clean-Up. Join Proctor as we beautify our school through weeding, mulching, planting, and cleaning! Contact Marie Kulka with any questions. Forms available in April school newsletter, deadline Friday, April 22nd.


2. Palomares Elementary School -
Palomares Creek Clean-Up. Join Palomares for trail clearing and maintenance. Contact Denise Hohn with any questions.


3. Castro Valley Elementary School -
CVE Campus Clean-Up. Join CVE as we beautify our campus through weeding and painting! Contact Linda Mourgos with questions. Forms available in April school newsletter, deadline Friday, April 15th.


4. Vannoy Elementary School -
Vannoy Beautification. Join Proctor as we beautify our school through weeding, mulching, planting, and cleaning! Contact Marie Kulka with any questions. Forms available in April school newsletter, deadline Friday, April 22nd.


5. Chabot Elementary School -
Chabot Campus Clean-Up. Join Chabot as we beautify our school through weeding, mulching, planting, and cleaning! Contact Pat Payne with any questions. Forms available in April school newsletter, deadline Friday, April 22nd.


6. Marshall Elementary School -
Marshall will be participating in May with a school-wide project including weeding & mulching a hillside and litter pick-up. Contact Sandra Lange with any questions. More details to follow.


7. Redwood High School -
