SOLID WASTE PROGRAM INTERN
$15.00 / Hour
(Up to 30 hours per week during school year; up to 40 hours during summer break)

The Position:
Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSD), a Public Wastewater and Solid Waste agency located in Castro Valley, is seeking a Solid Waste Program Intern. Receiving direction from the Solid Waste Staff, the Intern will be assigned to assist with Environmental Education, Used Motor Oil Recycling, Event Assistance and other Department programs as assigned. Position not to extend beyond June 30, 2009.

Requirements:
• Some knowledge or interest in the recycling industry and/or wastewater treatment process a plus.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in oral and written forms.
• Possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Ability to comfortably and independently provide community outreach at public events and in business settings.

Compensation:
Salary: $15.00 per hour. Flexible hours (between 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday) will be coordinated with the successful candidate. Between 20 to 40 hours per week up to 1,000 hours.
