Multi-family (apartments or condominiums with 5 units or more) complexes are eligible to participate in the District's recycling programs at no additional cost to the tenants or property owners. CVSD is making recycling easy by offering:

  • Single Stream (All-in-One) Recycling (all paper, cardboard, bottles, and cans).
  • Free technical assistance and follow-up, supplies, brochures, and signs.
  • Waste Management of Alameda County (WMAC) customer service and operational support.

Voters passed the Alameda County Waste Reduction and Recycling Act of 1990 to divert (not send to the landfill) 50% of waste by 2000 and 75% by 2010.

CVSD reached 60% at the end of 2004, and encourages all apartments and condominiums to participate as we continue to increase diversion.
