Recycles Day

Recycles Day is Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan)'s most popular event and is held every spring and summer. At Recycles Day, residents are invited to drop off items that are not typically accepted in their regular curbside recycling, organics, and garbage services. These items are then properly reused, recycled, or disposed of. CVSan residents and businesses can also pick up bagged compost at no additional charge.

The next Recycles Day will be on
July 27, 2024
at Canyon Middle School
19600 Cull Canyon Rd.

APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED.

DROP-INS MAY NOT PARTICIPATE.

Registration for this event will open in mid-June. Check back on this webpage closer to mid-June for more information and instructions on how to register for an appointment.

At the July 27th Recycles Day event, CVSan will accept drop-off of textiles (CVSan residents only) and Household Hazardous Waste. CVSan residents and businesses may also pick up three 1-cubic foot bags of compost.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED CURBSIDE

There are other resources available to dispose of items which do not get serviced curbside. Use the  tool to search an item and learn how to properly recycle or dispose of it. Review CVSan’s Household Hazardous Waste resources page for more information on disposing of hazardous waste, or visit a nearby Household Hazardous Waste Facility to drop off hazardous waste at no additional charge.
