CVSan Commissions the First Commercial Sidestream Treatment System in the U.S. Pacific Coast Region 

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) in partnership with Oro Loma Sanitary District (OLSD) and Microvi have commissioned the first dewatered filtrate (sidestream) treatment system in the Pacific Coast Region of the United States. This project will aim to reduce nitrogen discharge to the San Francisco Bay by up to 8,000,000 pounds over 20 years.

CVSan provides $500,000 of COVID-19 Rates Relief to the Community

In response to the global COVID-19 outbreak, Castro Valley Sanitary District’s (CVSan’s) Board of Directors unanimously voted to pass the COVID-19 Emergency Rates Relief Act (CERRA) at the July 14, 2020 Regular Board Meeting. As adopted via Resolution No. 3473, this action will provide direct financial relief to CVSan customers by waiving the rate increases for the sewer service charge that was to take effect on July 1, 2020.

Compost Give-Away Event

In August, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) hosts a Recycles Day & Compost Give-Away event at Canyon Middle School. The event had been scheduled for Saturday, August 1st, but has unfortunately been cancelled due to statewide shelter-in-place orders and public health directives calling for the cancellation of large public gatherings to slow the spread of COVID-19.

To continue to provide free compost to the community, CVSan is partnering with Pete’s ACE Hardware (Pete’s) for an alternate Compost Give-Away event from August 17th – September 19th! Here is how you can participate:
