Recycles Day is Castro Valley Sanitary District’s (CVSan’s) most popular event and is held twice a year. At Recycles Day, residents are invited to drop off various items to be properly recycled or disposed of.

The next CVSan Recycles Day by appointment only will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Canyon Middle School (19600 Cull Canyon Rd) from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for CVSan residents and businesses only. See below for information on registering for an appointment.
REGISTER FOR AN APPOINTMENT
Use the form below to register for an appointment. (Registration form will be available March 29th - April 14th.)
- Maximum 2 appointments per household or business for Recycle Drop-Off.
- Maximum 1 appointment per household or business for Compost Pick-Up Only.
- If you register in excess of these maximums and/or are ineligible to participate, CVSan has the right to cancel any excess appointments at our discretion.
- You may not register for both a Recycle Drop-Off appointment(s) and Compost Pick-Up Only appointment. You will have the opportunity to also pick-up compost during a Recycle Drop-Off appointment.
Please cancel your appointment if you are no longer able to attend the event so that the appointment can be opened for another customer. If appointments are fully booked at the time that you register, check back later within the registration period to see if an appointment becomes available.
Once your registration has been verified, you will be mailed a paper event ticket to the address listed in your registration. Tickets will be mailed after April 12th.
You must present this paper event ticket to event staff to participate in the event. Web or email confirmations will not take the place of a paper event ticket. PLEASE CAREFULLY FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON THE EVENT TICKET.

COVID-19 Safety Requirements
- Appointments are required. DROP-INS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
- Face coverings required at all times.
- Stay inside vehicle at all times.
- Keep windows rolled up. Windows may be partially rolled down at the check-in station and when handing over the event ticket at the compost station.
- Place items for drop-off in the trunk of your vehicle, not in the main cabin.
- At recycling drop-off and compost stations, open your trunk using controls inside the vehicle if possible.
Note: No more than three households may ride in the same vehicle during the event, or the stated maximum per County guidelines if fewer at the time of the event.

CVSan residents and businesses are eligible to receive three 1-cubic foot bags of compost.
Please review the event map below for instructions on how to pack your car as well as how to drive through the event site.
NEW! Participants can enter the event using either lane. After check-in, participants will be sorted into the appropriate lane – Recycle Drop-Off or Compost Only.
Attendees that wish to access the school site but are not participating in the Recycles Day event should stay in the right lane and will be able to pull into the General Parking Lot.
Residents only (not businesses). Acceptable textiles are items such as clothing, towels, linens, bathmats, curtains, shoes, etc.
Not accepted: Textiles that are wet, moldy, or have human biowaste, blood, toxic chemicals, or motor oil on them. No light-up shoes, clothes, or stuffed animals. No mattresses, toppers, or pillows.
Acceptable Documents for Shredding
Paper documents will be accepted for shredding. These include documents with personal or sensitive information.
Certificates of Destruction will not be provided.
Due to COVID-19 safety requirements, participants will not be permitted to watch their documents be shredded.

Note: Some items may be sorted for reuse. Please factory reset any phones, routers, streaming TV boxes, and other devices that have personal account information. Follow best practices for erasing and wiping hard drives on computers or physically destroying them. Remove and erase any memory cards or sim cards in cameras, phones, and other devices.
