Recycles Day

Recycles Day is Castro Valley Sanitary District’s (CVSan’s) most popular event and is held twice a year. At Recycles Day, residents are invited to drop off various items to be properly recycled or disposed of. CVSan residents and businesses can also pick up bagged compost at no additional charge. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED.

The next CVSan Recycles Day by appointment only will be held on April 23, 2022, at Canyon Middle School (19600 Cull Canyon Rd). The event will be open to CVSan residents and businesses only. Appointment registration will open on March 28, 2022. You will not be permitted to enter the event without an appointment. Check back on this webpage closer to the event date for details on registration, acceptable items for drop-off, and more.

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) hosts Recycles Day each Spring and Summer. This popular event is an opportunity for residents to properly recycle or dispose of various items which they typically cannot place curbside with their regular recycling, organics and garbage services.

There are other resources available to dispose of items which do not get serviced curbside. Use the Re:Source tool to search an item and learn how to properly recycle or dispose of it. Review CVSan’s Household Hazardous Waste resources page for information on disposing of hazardous waste, or schedule an appointment at a nearby Household Hazardous Waste Facility to drop off hazardous waste at no additional charge.
